Overall, waking up makes it a breeze to get into meditation. It reminded me a bit too much of the many unnecessary hoops you jump through in formal education. If the waking up app is truly a different creature from its competitors (which it is), this is because the man behind the app is the product of a very different world than most app developers.
The app doesn’t contain quite as much content as apps like calm and headspace, but this seems to be on purpose.
If you would like to use the app but truly cannot afford it, please request a free account. If you only need daily mindfulness reminders, ambient noise and light, or guided meditations with music, you may find the waking up app not living up to your expectations.
